How to choose the right printing and right paper for your custom packaging
1. Determine the Purpose
Consider the purpose of the printed material. Choose premium paper like coated art paper or gold/silver cardstock for high-end products, and kraft paper or recycled paper for eco-friendly packaging.
2. Consider the Target Audience
Think about your target audience and the impression you want to convey. Use high-quality paper with a matte or glossy finish for a sophisticated look, or uncoated or textured paper for a rustic or natural appeal.
3. Balance Quality and Budget
Consider your budget and balance the quality and cost according to your project’s requirements.
4. Choose the Right Printing Method
Select the printing method based on the complexity of the design, desired print quality, and production volume. Options include offset printing for large volumes, digital printing for smaller runs and faster turnaround times, and screen printing for various surfaces and materials.
01 Hot Stamping / Hot Silver
The scientific name is thermal transfer printing, referred to as thermal transfer printing, commonly known as hot stamping and hot silver. It is a method of hot stamping metal foil onto printed matter by means of a certain pressure and temperature, and there is also a cold pad printing.
02.UV Coating
It refers to ultraviolet glazing, and UV is the abbreviation, which means that the ink can be dried and cured by ultraviolet radiation.
UV is usually a silk screen printing process, and now there is also offset printing UV. If the UV is applied on the film, a special UV film is required, otherwise the UV is easy to fall off, foam, etc.
03.Embossed
Using a convex template (positive template) to emboss the surface of the printed matter into a three-dimensional relief-like pattern through pressure (the printed matter is partially raised to make it have a three-dimensional effect and cause visual impact. It is called embossing.
04. Debossed
Using the concave template (negative template) to emboss the surface of the printed matter into an embossed pattern with a concave feeling through the action of pressure (the printed matter is partially concave to make it have a three-dimensional effect and
cause visual impact.) It is called debossed.
05. Embossed pattern
After using the metal plate with engraved textures to pressurize, a full pattern of textures is left on the surface of the paper.
6.Die cutting
The die-cutting process is to make a special die-cutting knife according to the design requirements of the printed matter, and then roll the printed matter or other printed matter into the required shape or cut mark under the action of pressure.
07.Carving
It also known as paper carving or paper cutting, is a form of art that involves cutting out intricate designs from a sheet of paper using scissors, knives, or other cutting tools. The designs can be simple or highly complex, and can range from abstract shapes to intricate scenes or patterns.
08 Lamination
Lay a layer of transparent plastic film on the printed paper, there are crystal film, light film and matte film, which are called differently in many places and are not environmentally friendly.
09.Digital printing
The image to be printed is sent directly from a computer to the printer, which uses advanced technology to produce high-quality prints with vivid colors and sharp details.
